Ruinart is the oldest champagne producer in the world. The Catholic monk Dom Thierry Ruinart (a friend of Dom Perignon, the father of champagne) came from a famous family in the Champagne region of France. His family mainly engaged in the wool business. When he traveled around Europe, he noticed The royal family loved Champagne, so they passed on their vision of running a Champagne business to his brother Nicolas Ruinart. Nicolas's son of the same name was also influenced by his passion for champagne. In 1729, he realized his uncle Dom Thierry Ruinart's ambition and established the first champagne winery. The delicate, elegant and complex style of Ruinart Champagne is closely related to the high proportion of Chardonnay grape varieties used by the winery.
