Glenrothes has returned to the Edington Group since 2017. Chief Winemaker Gordon Motion combines the advantages of both: Glenrothes’ own rich sherry barrel resources in its own distillery, and the Edington Group’s most proud Based on the oak barrel policy, we have spent a lot of money to create a new series of products that are 100% sherry barrels: "The Soleo Collection".

The word "Soleo" originated from the traditional process of sun-ripening grapes for sherry wine in Spain. After the grapes are harvested by hand, they are then carefully spread on the ground to receive sunlight exposure. Depending on the exposure time, the quality of the grapes will change. The colors also show different styles, from orange to deep purple.

"The Soleo Collection" brings out the core essence of the new Glenrothes. The four new products are all made from 100% sherry barrels. The boldly colored outer packaging and year mark echo the sun-ripening time of sherry wine grapes.

The four new products are Glenrothes 12 Years Old, Glenrothes 18 Years Old, Glenrothes 25 Years Old and the high alcohol strength Whiskey Maker's Cut. The first three products are made from 100% sherry casks, while the fourth, Whiskey Maker's Cut, is made from 100% first-time sherry casks.

Brand new products made from 100% sherry barrels

When Chief Distiller Gordon Motion re-examined the Glenrothes cellar, he unexpectedly discovered that Glenrothes had an astonishing stock of sherry casks. In the overall inventory, there are more than 90% sherry barrels in stock, and among these stocks, more than 80% are first-time sherry barrels. Therefore, Gordon Motion spared no expense to create a new series of Glenrothes products using 100% sherry barrels for wine fans to enjoy.

After careful evaluation, chief winemaker Gordon Motion decided to make the past single-vintage series of Glenrothes a thing of the past, and use vintage labels to set the unique character of each vintage so that wine fans can clearly know the aging year.

The outer packaging of Glenrothes' new products is inspired by "Soleo", echoing the sun-ripening time of grapes, from bright orange to calm black. However, what has not changed is the bottle of Glenrothes, which is very different from ordinary whiskey bottles. The concept of the bottle of Glenrothes comes from the sampling bottles in the sample room. The bottle is set in a see-through outer packaging. , like a work of art.
