Chocolate Discovery Journey This whiskey created in collaboration with Jordi Roca, pastry chef of the Michelin restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, makes chocolate and whiskey complement each other and become even more outstanding. To create this first-ever limited edition whiskey, Macallan Master Distiller Polly Logan embarked on a special journey to Girona, Spain. Immerse yourself in the world of chocolate at the local Casa Cacao, discover the chocolate-making process and discover unique flavor combinations.

Polly cooperates with Jordi Roca, the owner of the famous chocolate boutique and hotel Casa Cacao and the youngest of the three famous Roca brothers. This exploration process also included a visit to Casa Cacao’s chocolatier Damien Allsop.

Polly Logan specially searched for the most chocolatey barrels in the Macallan Estate to blend this whiskey, which is said to go well with the rich chocolate. Rich Cacao uses sherry barrels from European and American oak barrels. The final product has aromas of chocolate, honey, oak, lime bark and ginger; the taste has hints of dark chocolate and honey, dates, vanilla and cinnamon. Polly Logan said that she discovered a special chocolate tone in Macallan's European sherry barrels, and when combined with American sherry barrels, the bitter chocolate will bring out a little sweetness.
