Although peat is not the classic DNA of Balvenie, the winery’s wines before the 1960s do have peat undertones.

The reason was that transportation was not developed at that time, and many distilleries often used peat as fuel to dry barley. This resulted in the earlier Balvenie whiskey retaining a light peat flavor.

Former distillery director Ian Millar was inspired when he visited Islay again and again, why not bring the peat tones back to The Balvenie!

This is a way to enrich the flavor spectrum of the distillery! And because The Balvenie only selects the week before the annual shutdown for maintenance to produce peat house whiskey.

So the name of the wine sets the tone: [The Week of Peat-Peat Week].

Its citrus flavor, oak vanilla and honey, and smoked peat achieve a beautiful balance, and the taste is more like velvet, smooth and full.

•Aroma: Mild and sweet peat smoke, light floral notes and delicate buttery molasses.

•Taste: A velvety round mouthfeel with peat smoke, a perfect balance of citrus, oak vanilla and nectar.

• Finish: Mild smoky flavor with lingering creamy vanilla sweetness.
